Did you know that approximately 1 in 10 people worldwide are left-handed?

That’s right! While the world might be designed with right-handed people in mind, there’s a whole community of lefties doing things a little differently. And when it comes to curling, we think that’s something worth celebrating!

Curling is already a pretty unique sport, and left-handed curlers add another interesting element to the game.

At Goldline Curling, we want to make sure that whether you’re right-handed, left-handed, or somewhere in between, you’ve got the equipment you need to play your best.

A Little Left-Handed History at Goldline

Our appreciation for left-handed curlers goes back a long way.

In fact, Goldline’s former CEO, Doug Flowers, was left-handed himself!

Doug led Goldline for many years, helping grow the company into a trusted name in curling equipment. Having a lefty at the helm is a fun piece of our history and a fitting reminder that left-handed curlers have always been part of the Goldline family.

Celebrating the World’s Left-Handed Curlers

Every year, we’re proud to support the World Lefthanders Curling Championship, hosted at the Oakville Curling Club in Oakville, Ontario.

This annual bonspiel brings together left-handed curlers for a celebration of the sport, friendly competition, and a chance to share the ice with people who understand what it’s like to approach the hack from the other side!

It’s one of those wonderfully unique traditions that makes the curling community so special.

And for us, it’s another opportunity to show some love to our left-handed curling friends!

Curling Shoes Designed With Lefties in Mind

One of the biggest equipment considerations for a left-handed curler is footwear.

For curlers who slide from the right side of the hack, the right shoe is typically the sliding shoe, while the left shoe provides traction.

That’s why we make sure left-handed curlers have options when choosing their curling shoes.

G50 Gen 2: Fixed Sliders for Left-Handed Curlers

Our popular Goldline G50 Gen 2 curling shoes are offered in dedicated left-handed configurations.

Whether you’re looking at the Chinook Gen 2, Storm Gen 2, or Cyclone Gen 2, we’ve made sure left-handed curlers aren’t forgotten.

These shoes feature fixed sliders, so choosing the correct handedness is especially important. When you order a left-handed pair, the slider is positioned on the right shoe.

It’s a small detail that makes a big difference when you’re stepping into the hack!

Momentum & Revo1: Flexible for Righties AND Lefties

We also keep left-handed curlers in mind when developing our removable-slider footwear.

Our Goldline Momentum curling shoes & Hardline Revo1 shoes use interchangeable slider and gripper discs, allowing curlers to customize their shoes based on which foot they slide on.

That means the same shoe model can be configured for either right-handed or left-handed play!

It’s a flexible system that also lets curlers choose their preferred slider speed.

Whether you’re just starting out or looking to upgrade your equipment, having that flexibility makes finding the right setup much easier.

Even Our How-To Videos Remember the Lefties!

It’s not just our products. We try to think about left-handed curlers when we’re creating educational content, too!

For example, we’ve created a video demonstrating how to make a Pro Slide for left-handed use.

Because why should right-handed curlers get all the tutorials?

Sometimes it’s the little things that make a difference, and we want every curler to feel included when they’re learning about their equipment.

Are All Left-Handed People Left-Handed Curlers?

Here’s an interesting question: Does being left-handed automatically mean you curl left-handed?

Not necessarily!

Just like in golf or baseball, some people who write with their left hand prefer to play certain sports right-handed.

The same thing happens in curling.

A person’s dominant writing hand doesn’t always determine which way they feel most comfortable delivering a curling stone.

That’s why, when you’re shopping for curling shoes, the most important question isn’t necessarily which hand you write with.

It’s which foot you slide on!

If you’re shopping for fixed-slider curling shoes, make sure you’re choosing the configuration that matches your delivery.

And if you’re unsure, the Goldline team is always happy to help you figure out the right setup.

Here’s to the Lefties!

At Goldline, we believe curling equipment should work for every curler.

From supporting the World Lefthanders Curling Championship to offering left-handed G50 shoes, customizable Momentum footwear, and left-handed instructional videos, we’re proud to keep our left-handed curling community in mind.

After all, you might only make up about 10% of the population, but you deserve 100% of our attention when it comes to your curling equipment.

So here’s to all the lefties sliding out of the right side of the hack. We’ve got you covered!
