Hours: Part-time – varying shifts including weekends and peak holiday periods
Position Summary
The Goldline Curling Consultant is the welcoming face of our retail store, providing knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful service to our athletes and enthusiasts. Curling Consultants assist customers in selecting equipment and apparel, explain product features, handle transactions accurately, and contribute to an outstanding in-store experience. You must be comfortable with a fast-paced, high-volume environment during the peak season, as well as the ability to stay proactive and maintain store standards during the quieter periods later in the season.
This is a seasonal, part-time role perfect for a curler who wants to stay connected to the local curling community, share their knowledge of the sport, and work with a small, close-knit team in a friendly environment.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Product Guidance
- Greet customers warmly and foster a welcoming, inclusive community environment.
- Attentive to the diverse needs, backgrounds, and abilities of customers, with a commitment to fostering an inclusive and welcoming curling community.
- Listen to customer needs and provide personalized recommendations on curling brooms, shoes, apparel, and accessories.
- Share authentic knowledge of the sport to help both beginners and experienced curlers find the right gear.
- Handle customer questions and inquiries politely and professionally.
Store Operations & Point of Sale
- Process transactions accurately using our point-of-sale (POS) system, handling cash and card payments securely.
- Open and close the retail floor according to established store procedures.
- Assist with inventory tasks, including unboxing, pricing, tagging, and organizing incoming merchandise.
- Monitor stock levels on the sales floor and replenish shelves as items sell.
Teamwork & Maintenance

- Maintain clean, organized, and visually appealing product displays.
- Complete light cleaning duties (sweeping, dusting, tidying) to keep the store safe and inviting.
- Collaborate closely with the Store Manager and teammates to ensure smooth daily operations, especially during peak seasons and busy holiday rushes

Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Completion of secondary school preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.
Core Experience & Knowledge
- Curling Familiarity: Active participation in or deep knowledge of curling, its culture, and basic equipment terminology is essential.
- Customer Service: Previous experience in retail, customer service, or a community-facing role is a strong asset.
Skills & Abilities
- Friendly, approachable communication style with customers and teammates.
- Able to stay organized and focused during busy periods, including attention to detail, multitasking and managing interruptions.
- Attentive to the diverse needs, backgrounds, and abilities of customers, with a commitment to fostering an inclusive and welcoming curling community.
- Willingness to learn about new products and share product knowledge with customers.
- Good communication skills in English are required (additional languages are an asset).
- Basic mathematical and cash-handling accuracy for point-of-sale transactions.
- Basic comfort with technology (willingness to learn our simple checkout and inventory software).
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative, assist teammates, and help keep the store tidy and organized.
- Ability to work independently on standard tasks and cooperate seamlessly within a small team.
Physical Demands & Schedule
- Comfort with standard retail physical demands, including standing for extended periods, moving about the store, and light lifting (e.g., boxes of apparel or brooms).
- Flexibility to work shifts that align with the curling season, including weekends and peak periods (September rush and December holidays).
