The excitement continues as the Grand Slam of Curling heads to Guelph, Ontario, for the WFG Masters from January 14 to 19, 2025. Hosted at the Sleeman Centre, this fourth event of the 2024-25 season promises intense competition, top-tier curling, and a showcase of skill and strategy from the world’s best teams.
Event Overview
The WFG Masters will feature 16 of the top men’s teams and 16 of the top women’s teams from around the globe, competing for a combined $400,000 prize purse. Teams will play four round-robin games: three against teams within their pool and one crossover game.
Key Updates
For the first time in Grand Slam history, the top four men’s and women’s teams selected their pool opponents in a draft using a snake order process, adding an exciting layer of strategy before the event begins. A new rule will also be tested during the WFG Masters, where a team will lose the hammer after two consecutive blank ends. This experiment aims to increase scoring opportunities and enhance entertainment value, adding a fresh dynamic to gameplay.
