Choosing the right foam is key to maximizing your sweeping performance. Whether you’re upgrading or replacing, here’s how to pick the best fit for your game:

Which Foam Should I Choose?

Pulsar
Best for: Holding the line when playing on soft ice conditions

The original Impact foam, pre-installed on every Impact broom. Pulsar is a softer foam that excels at holding the line on softer ice surfaces. It’s been a proven winner in high performance curling, with Rachel Homan using the Impact/Pulsar combination to win multiple Grand Slams, The Scotties, and the World Women’s Curling Championship during the 2023-24 season.

Evader
Best for: Competitive players seeking precision carving

Evader is a firmer, white foam designed for powerful sweepers who want precision carving and maximum shot control. Introduced for the 2024-25 season, Evader foam has quickly become the top choice for high-performance players. It was used by Team Homan in their 2025 Scotties win and became the go-to foam for nearly every men’s team at The 2025 Brier — even for teams using handles from other brands. The consensus is clear: Goldline’s Impact broom with Evader foam is the top-performing curling broom on the market today.

Pursuer
Best for: Recreational players looking for maximum control

Pursuer is a very firm black foam with a skin that was originally approved for competitive play. While it meets World Curling’s technical specifications, further testing has shown that Pursuer performance exceeded World Curling’s desired goals for equipment behaviour. As a result, we voluntarily withdrew Pursuer’s certification for competitive play. While Pursuer is no longer approved for World Curling sanctioned events, it remains the best-performing option for maximizing your sweeping performance in recreational play.

The Backstory: Why So Many Foams?

At Goldline, we’re committed to continuously improving our products. We know that sweeping technology plays a huge role in performance, and upgrading your foam is an easy way to improve your game. In fact, since you need to remove the foam every time you replace your broom head sleeve, changing your foam is simple: just pull out the old one out and press the new one in the next time your changing your sleeve.

Our original Impact broom with Pulsar foam was already a game-changer, but we continued to push for improvements. That’s why we introduced two new options this season: Evader for competitive curlers, and Pursuer for recreational players seeking enhanced performance.

We remain committed to fair play and equipment innovation. With Pulsar, Evader, and Pursuer, you have the flexibility to choose the best combination to match your game, your ice conditions, and your style of play.
